Frank Herring Easel Award at the ROI

I am delighted to have been selected for the Frank Herring Easel Award at this years Royal Institute of Oil Painters exhibition.  The selection was made by David Herring of  'Frank Herring and Sons' during the private view and it was great to chat to him and hear why he had chosen my painting 'Lands End' for the award.  There were some great paintings in the exhibition and well deserved winners of the prizes and awards listed on the ROI website here. The prizes were given by Jacob Rees-Mogg MP and president Ian Cryer.

The ROI exhibition this year was excellent and I am really pleased two of my three pieces have sold.  The private view had its usual great atmosphere and it was nice to attend the varnishing hour before hand to get a good look at the work before the crowds.  I really enjoyed catching up with members of the ROI as well as other artists and friend who attended.

The following day I was asked to paint during the DAS evening, which involved me painting in the gallery space during the event with the painting being raffled at the end.  It was a great evening and really good to chat to the band Jazz Moods who provided excellent entertainment.  I found painting the band while listening to their music really inspiring.
